FLIM LABS is a startup active in the field of Fluorescence Spectroscopy and Fluorescence Imaging. It was founded at the beginning of 2019 thanks to the ‘PRE-SEED’ European funds. FLIM LABS mission is to provide reliable and user-friendly photon-counting instrumentation able to acquire and process Fluorescence data in real time.

FLIM LABS main expertise relies in developing Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy and Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FLIM-FCS) upgrade kits that can be easily integrated into commercial or custom-built Laser Scanning Microscopy and Spectroscopy setups.

FLIM-FCS Upgrade Kits are commercialized with the Trademark SAHA. SAHA upgrade kits are available in different families and series, in this way the customer gets only what is really needed to pursue a specific application.

Moreover, all the SAHA families and products are based on the same hardware platform, making it easy to switch between different configurations simply upgrading the instrument firmware.

SAHA upgrade kits not only share the same hardware but also the software for data acquisition and analysis, named FLIM Studio. This software comes together with every FLIM LABS product.

Our Approach

FLIM LABS instruments are based on FPGA technology (Field-programmable gate array) to implement photon-counting data acquisition and sampling using the state-of-the-art DFD (Digital Frequency Domain) principle.

Once the instrumentation is connected to your Fluorescence setup, FLIM LABS technology provides both FLIM images and high harmonic content Phasor Plot maps.


FLIM stands for the well-known Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy technique.

The use of fluorescence lifetime is increasingly gaining ground in frontier scientific research: in fact, by measuring this physical quantity it is possible to map biochemical phenomena both on a molecular and tissue scale in-vitro and in-vivo.
